Philly Cheesesteak is one of the most famous American dishes, combining tender beef with melted cheese for an irresistible flavor. But what if we reinvent it in the form of stuffed breadsticks? This recipe blends crispy bread with a rich filling, making it a perfect choice for appetizers or light meals.

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Filling:

  • 200 grams thinly sliced beef (Ribeye or Filet)
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon butter

For the Topping:

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon chopped parsley
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Preparation Method

Preparing the Dough:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour with yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Gradually add warm water and olive oil while kneading until a smooth and homogeneous dough forms.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise for 45 minutes until it doubles in size.

Preparing the Filling:

  1. In a pan over medium heat, melt the butter, then add the onion and bell pepper and sauté until softened.
  2. Add the beef slices, season with salt and black pepper, and cook until fully done.
  3. Set the filling aside to cool slightly before using.

Assembling the Breadsticks:

  1. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a medium thickness.
  2. Cut the dough into equal-sized rectangles.
  3. Place a portion of the beef and vegetable mixture in the center of each rectangle, then top with shredded cheese.
  4. Roll the dough over the filling and seal the edges tightly to prevent leakage while baking.

Baking and Serving:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
  2. Place the stuffed breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder, parsley, and Parmesan cheese.
  4. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden and crispy.
